Tie back long hair — no gloves near a running blade.
Switch on the dust extraction
Check the saw blade for cracks and tension
Clamp the workpiece and set the guide height
Feed slowly — never push from behind
After the cut, let the extraction run for 30 seconds, then switch it off.

Starting and checking the band saw
Do this before every use — takes about 5 minutes.
Put on safety glasses and hearing protection
Check blade tension: slight give under finger pressure
Set the guide rollers to the blade width
Check the table is square (use a try square)
Start in idle, listen for unusual noises
Switch on the dust extraction
Cleaning the band saw after use
Switch off and wait until the blade has stopped
Brush shavings off the table and housing
Empty the extraction container when half full
Lightly oil the blade
Close the cover
